Welcome once again to another interesting piece of information. In today’s article we’re going to be looking at the 10 best wonder kids in the Premier League right now.
The criteria for a wonder kid is that they have to be age of 21 or under at the time of making this list and they also have to be part of the senior squad, so you won’t see any academy players on this list.
So here’s a list of the Premier League’s 10 best players that are age 21 or under.
10) Savinho -Manchester City
First off the list, we have Man City’s new signing, 20-year-old winger, Savinho. Savinho has been nurturing for the past two seasons, during which he played for City’s feeder clubs, Troyes and Girona.
Last season he was one of Girona’s standout players, scoring 11 goals in 44 games. Savinho is expected to play a significant role at City this season.
He’s your typical Brazilian winger, he can dribble, drive with the ball and finish cleanly with powerful shots.
9) Archie Gray – Tottenham
A surprise for some on this list is 18-year-old Archie Gray, Tottenham’s new signing.
Gray made his debut with Leeds last season as a 17-year-old, making 44 appearances and he won the EFL Championship plus Young Player of the Year award.
He is a technically gifted player who can play both right back and central midfield. It only took one season of Gray playing for Leeds for Tottenham to sign him for over £30m and there are high expectations for Gray this season and many believe he can be a special player.
So he may climb higher on this list for the future, but for now he’s at number 9.
8) Evan Ferguson – Brighton & Hove Albion F.C.
For those who play football manager, Ferguson is an iconic wonderkid to buy.
19-year-old wonderkid, Evan Ferguson for Brighton is one of the most promising players in the league right now. He’s yet to have a true breakout season, but at only 19, there’s still plenty of time.
Ferguson made waves last season when he scored a hat-trick, causing fans to believe a new superstar had arrived, but injuries stalled his momentum.
What’s exciting about Ferguson is his physique and height at such a young age and he’s often compared to players like Alan Shearer and Harry Kane. He embodies that all-round, old-school classic type of striker.
7) Rice Lewis – Manchester City
At number 7, we have Man City’s 19-year-old right-back, Rico Lewis.
Lewis has been part of City’s senior team since he was 17, consistently putting in solid performances. Pep Guardiola really likes him and he’s been improving every season.
This season, he’s finally expected to challenge Kyle Walker for the first-choice right-back position. Despite his young age, Lewis has shown the maturity to defend well, along with the technical abilities expected of all City players. He’s already able to cut in and play midfield and he displays great composure.
So Lewis is at number 7 is a good call.
6) Harvey Elliot – Liverpool FC.
Liverpool’s 21-year-old winger, Harvey Elliott, who is already challenging to start for Liverpool when you have legendary Mo Salah in front of you in your position is a proof that he is destined for the top.
Elliott is gradually proving that he can hold his own when given the chance. He featured in 34 games for Liverpool last season and he’s beginning to live up to his potential.
Elliott is a short, stocky player who can dribble, he’s strong and he’s got powerful long shots that allows him to score some wonder goals and many would expect that this season could be his breakout season.
5) Rasmus Hojlund – Manchester United
Man United’s 21-year-old striker, Rasmus Hojlund is number five on the list
It’s easy to forget how young he is because he was thrust into the role of United’s leading striker as soon as he signed.
While he looked raw at the beginning, Hojlund is now showing the potential to be a really special striker. He finished his debut season scoring 16 goals in 43 games. His mentality is impressive. He works hard. He’s not fazed by the spotlight of playing for such a big club like Man United.
Technically, he’s good with his feet, he’s quite pacey for a tall striker. Once he grows into his body more, improves his heading abilities and learns how to use his physicality, Hojlund will become a star striker this league.
4) Oscar Bobb – Manchester City
Man City’s 21-year-old winger, Oscar Bob is another promising talent from City’s academy. City fans were devastated to hear about his injury at the start of the season, as it was expected that Bobb would have a big impact on City’s team this season.
Bob looks like a special player. He dribbles with ease, he gets past players like Riyad Mahrez used to and his passing and link-up play is excellent.
He doesn’t lose possession and he makes great forward passes. Bob, for a long time, was considered City’s best academy graduate player, considering the quality of City’s academy, that says a lot about his talent.
This season was expected to his breakout. So let’s see how he does once he returns.
Let’s move on to the top 3 premier league wonderkids.
3) Alejandro Garnacho – Manchester United
So carrying on with the list, at number 3, we have Man United’s 20-year-old winger, Alejandro Garnacho.
He has often been a leader in a weak United team showing no fear of the spotlight. Garnaccio has a certain arrogance about him but he backs it up with his performances. He’s known for his speed and dribbling abilities and can create chances, get in the box when needed.
He won goal of the season award last year for his amazing overhead kick against Everton. Garnacho also scores lots of important goals such as the two goals he netted against Chelsea and most notably in the FA Cup final against Man City which they won.
2) Adam Walton – Crystal Palace
Palace’s 20-year-old central midfielder Adam Walton’s rise has been meteoric. He made his debut for Palace only in January of 2024 and after showing remarkable maturity and adaptability to the Premier League, he was instantly selected to the England senior team for Euro 2024.
Walton has massive potential as there aren’t many young midfielders like him. His technical ability sees him playing like a Spanish playmaker. He’s intelligent, makes the right passes, he can take the ball on the turn, transition from defense to attack.
Once he gains more experiences no doubt he’ll start living up to his hype and possibly a bigger team will surely be coming in for him. So Walton comes in at number two.
1) Kobbie Manioo – Manchester United
Unarguably the best wonder kid currently in the Premier League is without question Man United’s 19-year-old central midfielder Kobbie Mainoo. What a player he is.
The maturity he has shown at such a young age to break into the squad, carry United’s midfield is truly remarkable. You don’t often see young players with this level of composure on the ball especially in deep midfield roles.
He can take the ball in spots, he makes the right plays, he has a fearlessness about his style, he’s strong, intelligent. Rio Ferdinand said Mainoo reminds him of a young Clarence Seedorf and he’s not wrong about that.
Mainoo has also scored some important goals too which is important for a young midfielder. Some of his important goals included the winner in the FA Cup final and a last-minute goal against Wolves to win the match as well.
He’s quickly cemented his spot in the England national team. He’s already in the starting 11 and the ceiling is endless for Kobbie Mainoo. To be this good at such a young age is remarkable. So Kobbie takes the number one spot on this list for the best wonderkid right now in the Premier League.
